I AM 34 ALMOST 35. I HAVE SMOKED SINCE I WAS 15 YRS OLD. I QUIT A FEW TIMES THE LONGEST WAS 9 MONTHS FOR MY SON WHEN P.G., THEN RIGHT BACK. NOW 2 YEAR’S AGO I FOUND OUT I HAD COPD BECAUSE I KEPT GETTING BRONCITIS AND COUGHING ALOT. SO, THEN MY DAD DIED 5 MOTHS LATER OF SMOKING . HE SMOKED SINCE HE WAS 9 YRS OLDS, AND HE WAS 56 WHEN HE PASSED. THEN BEFORE THAT WHEN I WAS 19 HIS FATHER MY GRANDDAD SMOKED SINCE HE WAS 9 YRS OLD AND DIED AT 78, OF LUNG CANCER

I m new to this forum, and Im 57 yrs old and have c.o.p.d. it has changed my life completely, but not to the point im ready to give up life it to short for that.
When you have one foot in the grave, you find all kinds of reasons to quit, I love werthers the hard candy, and they taste a whole lot better than a cigarette believe me. God will help you, if you help your self, and throw them away, it is all in your mind and your hands. I was one of those that thought, there was no way I could put them down. I set up all nite one nite with my grandson watching me begging me to call an ambulance, or to wake his grandpa, and I wouldnt let him, I use 2or3 inhalers that nite, but they didnt work. Nothing workded, till the next morning when the ambulance came and had to give me 2nebulizers before we left for the hospital, another one while we were on the way, and then in the emergency room another on, and after that I dont remeber any thing, until I woke up in a hospital bed for 8 days with pneimonia. Two times they thought they were have to put me on a respirator, two times I was almost gone. I know it hasnt happened to you, and you think it can happen to you, but believe me it can. I quit cold turkey, cause I couldnt use nothing to help me, and didnt want to really. I beleive in you, cause you are young and stronger than you think, to put them down, they are holding you prisoner, and how bad do yu wont to get out, is us to you. I will Pray for you and a lot.
