9.0mm noduleI have a question and would appreciate any information on this: My mother had a CT scan one year ago that showed a 9.0mm calcified nodule and a 5.0mm noncalcified nodule adjacent to it. Findings were that the 9.0mm nodule was a healed gramuloma disease and that the noncalcified 5.0mm nodule was more than likely adjacent to the calcified ganuloma represents a granuloma. A repeat CT scan one year later shows the 9.0 calcified nodule and new change is that the 5.0mm nodule has grown to a 9.0mm nodule now and is believed to be malignate based on the fact that it has almost doubled in size in a year and my feeling is this could still be a granuloma based on the fact that the calcicifed granuloma is 9.0mm. The options that the Pulmonologist are giving is not very hopeful. There were two options at this point to have a needle biopsy or to rescan in a month because that would be three months since the last scan the patient chose to wait for the scan she stated because it doesn't seen that they will do anything so lets wait. A new update was that if we could get her lung volume increased by the use of steriods than surgery could be an option. If this does show growth on the rescan and needle biopsy shows it to be malignate Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Re: 9.0mm nodulehi in august I went through lung surgery . I HAD A NEDDLE BIOPSY DONE ON ONE OF THE FIVE NODULE , THE ONE THEY BIOPSIED GREW WITHIN THREE MONTHS AND THE DOCTOR STATED IT GREW AS A MALIGNANT ONE WOULD . TO MAKE A VERY LONG STORY SHORT .I WENT FOR THREE OPINION AND WAS TOLD THAT BEFORE THE NEDDLE BIOSPY WAS DONE A P. E. T. SCAN SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE FIRST . I THEN WENT ON INTO THE CITY FOR MY THIRD OPINION AND WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED LUNG SURGERY AND THE WAY IT LOOKED I WOULD LOSE THE BOTTOM HALF OF MY RIGHT LUNG. WELL THEY REMOVED THE NODULES ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY LUNG AND THANK GOD IT ALL TESTED OK .I STILL HAVE NODULES ON THE LEFT SIDE THAT THEY ARE WATCHING .IF YOU LIKE TO SPEAK WITH ME E MAIL ME AANY TIME OR IF YOU SEE ME ON LINE I WILL BE GLAD TO TALK WITH YOU I WISH YOUR MOM ALL THE BEST. THIS GOES TO SHOW YOU THAT YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT CAN HAPPEN .

I have a question and would appreciate any information on this: My mother had a CT scan one year ago that showed a 9. 0mm calcified nodule and a 5... They have discovered a 4-5 mm pulmonary nodule in my right lung and this is all new to me and scarey. I will be seeing a pulmonary specialist the end of the month & not sure what to expect. I have never smoked in my life and always have tried to eat healthy and exercise. Not sure why this is happening to me? I am 52 years old and haven't told my husband yet due to do not want him to worry and stress out. Please if anyone out there can tell me how serious is this?
