nodule in right lung.

Post a new topicby Guest on Sat Jan 26, 2002 2:58 pm

I went to a clinic for bronchitis/walking pneumonia. They did chest x-rays and found a nodule in or on my right lung. The radiologists said it was calcified. The diagnosis they gave me was "old granulomatous disease. She defined it this way: calcified lymphnode. I am a little aggravated due to the lack of info. She said there was nothing more to do about it. I have researched some and feel as though maybe I need to see a specialist. Do you think this would be wise. I had chest x-rays in 98 and the report did not indicate any nodules. I have a chronic deep cough from time to time and I am very prone to bronchitis and URI nfections. I am also from Tennessee and I have lived in Albania. I don't know if these are factors to consider please let me know if I should just leave this alone or should I consult another doctor (second opinion)

There are many reasons why a person can have a calcified lymph node on the chest xray. Some more common ones include old infection or exposure to certain things in the environment. Confirming that it is a benign calcified lymph node is a good idea and a pulmonologist in your area should be able to help with this.

They recently discovered a 4-5 mm pulmonary nodule on my right lung which I am following up with a pulmonary specialist at the end of the month. I am 52 years old & have never smoked. I found out through the website www.pulmonologychannel.com that if you live in Tennessee you have a higher risk for chronic infections that can lead to SPNs or other respiratory symptons which they call histoplasmosis.
