SPNI have a friend that was just diagnosed with a SPN by her doctor. She had a chest X-Ray because she has lupus and she was loosing a lot of weight quickly and not feeling well. The doctor thought it was her lupus acting up, but that seems to be under control. They are going to do a CT scan on her, I was wondering, would lupus cause a SPN or be related in any way? She did used to smoke, but isn't aware of any of the other risk factors being related to her. She is concerned, but is taking one step at a time. Thank you in advance for your answer, Dara
Re: SPNit would be very unlikely for lupus to cause a spn. lupus in the lung usually affects the entire lung not just one area.

I have a friend that was just diagnosed with a SPN by her doctor. She had a chest X-Ray because she has lupus and she was loosing a lot of weight quickly and not feeling well... Make sure the ct scan include scan w/dye which is more accurate. I was having problems & took a scan but they never gave me the dye which results showed nothing. Recently ended up in emergency but this time the doctor requested the ct scan w/dye and they discovered 4-5 mm pulmonary nodule and I have never smoked. I'm following up w/pulmonary specialist the end of the month.
